The latest packaging from the MR PAPER line. Zero plastic.

The latest packaging from the MR PAPER line. Zero plastic.

During the Fruit Logistica fair in Berlin, the latest SILBO packaging from the Mr Paper line had its premiere.
Reelbag is packaging for automatic Rollstock Bagger packaging machines.

So far, only so-called poly bags, i.e. plastic bags wound on rolls, have been used on this type of machines. After filling, they are automatically closed with a top seal. Apples are usually packed this way, but producers also use it for potatoes. This will also work for citrus fruits and nuts.

Now SILBO has developed paper bags for this packaging technology, completely eliminating plastic. The packaging can be kraft-brown or white and printed with any pattern. The paper is FSC® certified, printing is based on alcohol-free water-based inks, and glue (also water-based) can only be applied at the welding point. SILBO's Reelbag packaging has two large windows ensuring visibility of the bag contents and product ventilation. The windows are secured with organic linen mesh, and at the customer's request, the package can also be equipped with a handy handle. Paper has limited moisture absorption, thanks to which vegetables and fruits stay fresh longer.

SILBO is one of the few companies in the world that has machinery to produce this type of packaging. Although the design of Reelbags seems simple, the manufacturing technology is unique. So far, SILBO offered this type of packaging in the form of mono-material polyethylene bags with mesh intended for simplified recycling. Now they also offer a completely plastic-free alternative.
